Reasons why you might not be able to connect with TikTok
Why can't I connect my TikTok account?
There are a few reasons why you might be experiencing issues with connecting your TikTok account:
-
You currently have a TikTok Business account instead of a personal/creator account
-
Your TikTok account is not part of the TikTok Creator Marketplace
1. You currently have a TikTok Business account instead of a personal/creator account
After logging in with TikTok, if you see a message on #paid that says "Unable to connect your TikTok account..." this could mean we couldn't connect your TikTok account successfully because it is currently a Business account.
In order to connect with TikTok on #paid, you need a Personal/Creator account that's part of the TikTok Creator Marketplace. "Personal" and "Creator" accounts mean the same thing and are used interchangeably.
A TikTok Business account is a specific kind of TikTok account that's optimized to promote a business. Unfortunately, you cannot use a Business account to join the TikTok Creator Marketplace.
To switch to a personal/creator account, simply navigate to your TikTok profile > tap on the three lines (top-right) > tap on “Manage Account” followed by “Switch to Personal Account.”
Note: There are no restrictions to switching accounts so you can switch back to a Business account anytime.
Once you've made the switch—make your way back to #paid and try connecting with TikTok again!
2. Your TikTok account is not part of TikTok Creator Marketplace
After switching to a Creator/Personal account, if you are still seeing the error "Unable to connect your TikTok account..." on #paid, this means your TikTok account is not on the TikTok Creator Marketplace.
The TikTok Creator Marketplace (TCM) is a platform created by TikTok for brands and creators to connect. With TikTok Creator Marketplace, creators can get discovered and collaborate with brands on paid campaigns. Learn more
If your TikTok account is not part of the TCM, you can request a review for your TikTok account to see if you're eligible to receive an invite from TikTok.
To be eligible to join the TikTok Creator Marketplace, creators must...
-
Have over 10K TikTok followers
-
Be over the age of 18
-
Be located in North America
Once a creator meets the eligibility requirements (based on factors such as age, followers, video content, and engagement), they may receive an invite from TikTok to join. If you have a TikTok account that meets the requirements above and you're not currently on the TCM, you can request an invite to join here.
Note: The TikTok Creator Marketplace is managed by TikTok and not #paid; TikTok plans to expand its invitations to more creators over time.
Once you've been added to the TCM by TikTok—make your way back to #paid and try connecting with TikTok again!
